MetOcean Telematics Launches Infinity-iF Beacon, Enhancing Subsea Asset Recovery

Dartmouth, Nova Scotia – MetOcean Telematics, a global leader in satellite telemetry and maritime monitoring solutions, is pleased to announce the launch of the Infinity-iF, a next-generation Iridium®/GPS-enabled submersible beacon developed under its trusted NOVATECH™ brand

Purpose-built for deep-sea operations, the Infinity-iF enables accurate location tracking and rapid recovery of oceanographic equipment. With a depth rating of up to 11,000 meters, this self-contained beacon is engineered for reliable performance in even the most extreme marine environments.

The Infinity-iF integrates a bidirectional Iridium SBD transceiver, GNSS positioning, and a configurable high-intensity LED flasher, housed in a durable polycarbonate hemispherical dome for enhanced visibility in all directions. These features ensure fast detection and visual recovery, even in low-visibility conditions, once the beacon surfaces.

“The Infinity-iF is an important addition to our subsea technology lineup,” said Tony Chedrawy, CEO of MetOcean Telematics. “It delivers dependable performance with Iridium tracking, global geolocation, and a high-visibility LED flasher – supporting our customers in protecting critical equipment and data across a wide range of marine applications.”

Key Features:

  • Full Ocean Depth Rating: Operated to 11,000 m (36,089 ft) for battery powered units; 7,500 m (24,600 ft) for externally powered relay versions
  • Global Iridium/GPS Tracking: Enables precise geolocation and data relay via Iridium after
    surfacing
  • High-Intensity LED Flasher: Dual LEDs in a polycarbonate dome, visible up to 5 nautical miles
  • Flexible Power Options: Supports CR123 or D-cell lithium/alkaline batteries and external power
  • Surface Activation Sensors: GNSS, resistive, and conductive triggers for reliable surface
    detection
  • Two-Way Communication: Remote configuration and diagnostics via Iridium
  • Rugged Design: Titanium Grade 5 housing with epoxy-sealed electronics for maximum
    durability

Ideal for asset recovery, the Infinity-iF supports the retrieval of moorings, sensor arrays, and scientific equipment by transmitting its location and activating its beacon light upon surfacing. It also aids in locating surface assets such as surface buoys and enhances recovery operations for ROVs and AUVs by sending position data as soon as they return to the surface. In mooring failures, it helps operators quickly locate and recover displaced equipment, reducing both risk and cost.

With the Infinity-iF, MetOcean continues to advance reliable, field-ready telemetry solutions for the ocean science, offshore, and defence sectors.
