More space, more capability: MetOcean scales up to meet growing demand
Dartmouth, NS, October 22, 2026
Demand for reliable data and connectivity from the world’s most remote and challenging environments continues to grow, and MetOcean is expanding to meet it. From remote locations on land to the world’s oceans, our technologies help customers collect, communicate, and act on critical data when and where it matters most.
Opportunities are growing across our business, including satellite communications, ocean technology, environmental monitoring and defence, and MetOcean is investing in the people, technology and infrastructure that will support our next stage of growth.
With support from the Government of Canada through the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA), MetOcean Telematics is expanding and upgrading its Thornhill Drive facility in Dartmouth, bringing our team of just over 100 people together in one location and building greater capacity for the opportunities ahead. The announcement was made by MP Braedon Clark, on behalf of the Honourable Sean Fraser, Minister responsible for ACOA. The $900,000 repayable contribution comes through ACOA’s Regional Economic Growth through Innovation program.
At the heart of the project is a major expansion of our engineering workspace and testing areas, giving our growing engineering team much more room to design, develop, integrate and test the next generation of MetOcean technologies.
The facility will also benefit from technology upgrades across the business, creating a modern environment for our engineering, production, operations and support teams and helping position MetOcean for continued innovation in the markets we serve.
Our production and warehouse capacity is also expanding. Growth in larger products and systems such as NiKA and MASS means we increasingly need more room for assembly, integration, storage and movement than many of our traditional products require. The expanded facility gives us the infrastructure to support those programs efficiently while creating capacity for future products and opportunities.
Overall, the project brings together expanded engineering and testing space, technology upgrades, increased production and warehouse capacity, and renovated workspaces across the business. It is expected to create 10 new jobs and reduce operating costs by about $600,000 a year.
For our customers, this means faster development, closer collaboration between engineering, production and support, and more capacity to deliver the technologies they rely on.
“We’re seeing strong global demand for technologies that improve awareness and security underwater. Bringing our teams together under one roof will help us move faster, collaborate more effectively and continue developing advanced Canadian-made technologies here in Atlantic Canada. Support from ACOA is helping position MetOcean for long-term growth while strengthening our contribution to Canada’s defence and maritime security sectors.”

We thank ACOA, Minister Fraser and MP Clark for their support of MetOcean and of Atlantic Canada’s ocean technology sector.
