MetOcean selected by NOAA for satellite support services
(Dartmouth, Nova Scotia – April 6th, 2022) MetOcean Telematics (MetOcean), is pleased to announce it has been awarded a five-year contract from the U.S. Department of Commerce – National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), to supply NOAA’s Global Ocean Monitoring and Observing Laboratory, Atlantic Oceanographic and Meteorological Laboratory, and Pacific Marine Environmental Laboratory with critical real-time satellite connectivity, services, and support through the Iridium® satellite network (Iridium).
MetOcean has been a Value-Added Reseller (VAR) of the Iridium satellite network since 2006 (as then “JouBeh Technologies”). MetOcean, since its inception in 1984, has been heavily engrained and dedicated to the real-time monitoring of personnel and equipment in the harshest and the most remote locations on the globe. Partnering with Iridium two decades ago, complemented MetOcean’ s corporate focus to provide its clients; government entities, environmental agencies, educational institutes, and the public with an affordable, reliable, bi-directional satellite option. The Iridium satellite constellation was the optimal satellite constellation solution to provide MetOcean’ s clients and partners with true pole-to-pole connectivity.
