MetOcean Telematics is celebrating our 40th anniversary this October 2024, marking four decades as a leader in telematics and ocean technology. From the beginning, we’ve been pioneers in creating innovative solutions for data collection, monitoring, and communication, especially in challenging marine environments. This milestone is a testament to our commitment to advancing technology and delivering reliable products and services to clients worldwide.
A big part of our success is our strong partnership with Iridium, the only truly global satellite communications network. This collaboration has been crucial in helping us offer top-notch connectivity and data transmission, essential for operations in remote and challenging locations. With Iridium’s reliable network, we make sure that critical data is sent smoothly, showing our dedication to providing dependable solutions that help our clients achieve their goals.
Over the years, we’ve grown and expanded our expertise. The merger with JouBeh Technologies was a major step forward, combining our strengths in environmental monitoring and Iridium satellite telematics. Strategic acquisitions, like NOVATECH, Domo Tactical Communications’ TTL business, OmniCom, Hiddentec, and Nautics Group, have also expanded our offerings in environmental monitoring, Defense & Security, and fleet management.
As we look to the future, we’re committed to continuing to innovate and deliver top-notch solutions that meet our customers’ changing needs. MetOcean deploys our first Iridium drifter.
The METOCEAN SVP-Iridium drifter is an innovative addition to the spherical drifter family.
May 2010
MetOcean acquires NOVATECH
NOVATECH was acquired by MetOcean in May 2010 from Cobham Tracking & Locating.
January 2017
MetOcean + Joubeh
MetOcean Data Systems and JouBeh Technologies merged to form MetOcean Telematics, combining their expertise in environmental monitoring and Iridium® satellite telematics services. This merger formalized their longstanding collaboration, expanding their global reach and innovation in niche MetOcean solutions and Defence & Security products.
May 2018
MetOcean acquires DTC
MetOcean Telematics acquires Domo Tactical Communications’ Tagging, Tracking and Locating (TTL) business unit.
July 2021
MetOcean acquires OmniCom
MetOcean Telematics announced the acquisition of Orolia’s OmniCom vessel and fleet management systems, including OmniCom Global and OmniCom VMS. OmniCom provided next-generation real-time fleet management technology for constant connectivity at sea.
August 2022
MetOcean acquires Hiddentec
MetOcean Telematics announced the acquisition of the Hiddentec Group, a designer and manufacturer of advanced tracking equipment, including its full portfolio of GSM/RF GPS security and tracking systems.

MetOcean acquires Nautics Group
MetOcean Telematics expanded its Security product portfolio with the acquisition of the Nautics Group, an Australian company specializing in covert audio devices and security surveillance solutions that has supported Law Enforcement, DoD, and Intelligence communities globally for over 30 years.
