NOVATECH Aids in New AUV Project

Dartmouth, NS, Canada, November 6, 2012 — MetOcean Data Systems (MetOcean) is pleased to announce a successful collaboration with Bluefin Robotics.

MetOcean has customized three of their very popular products, the NOVATECH ST-400AR, the RF-700AR and the WABO Iridium Beacon to be integrated on the mast of the new Bluefin Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV).  The request came as Bluefin Robotics could not locate a 6000 meter (ocean depth) rated Dual Iridium/GPS antenna anywhere on the market and enlisted MetOcean to customize products that would help them succeed in their intended depths.

“The WABO Iridium Beacon is one of the deepest rated asset recovery beacons available to the ocean data customer base. We are thrilled to be able to offer this capability in a new form-factor, more suitable for integration with smaller, more streamlined platforms such as AUV’s. The remote head dual patch antenna will also prove useful for many mooring applications as well.” Tom Knox, MetOcean’s Technical Sales Manager.

The NOVATECH line of Radio Beacons, satellite Beacons and Xenon Flashers is the world’s leading name in oceanographic recovery and warning applications. NOVATECH has customers in over 36 countries including government agencies, military, universities, oil companies, private research organizations, survey and exploration companies, salvage companies, and the fishing industry.
